cornflower blue sunflower skies

|

cornflower blue sunflower skies
clouds daydream adrift to lift
shade of gray a palest green
allow the plow of yellow corn
before the loss of cool in early morn

fill farm stands to the brim with apples pears grapes-squash
carrots turnips potatoes cucumbers tomatoes-the harvest approaches

weather rough ground hard windy
flinty skin dry eyes gritty
sand storm lost in thought
courageous parting with the past
walk with me again on the beaches east end
sit with me on the shore looking over the horizon
it is you I am looking for at the end of every rainbow
you hand me a paintbrush and you say paint it.
