    artist’s statement:
horse show is a gathering of sketches in pastel charcoal acrylic paint on canvas that represent form and line in the shape of the horse.
there is a connection that i find with the horse and mysticism that cover the world terrain in sunshine and in rain the blissful and the pain, an archetypal picturesque painterly quest drawn from night till dawn
    a heavenly bequest.
please take a moment now to look beyond the plow, sincerely i am freed by painting every steed. part of my private collection.
    best wishes,
    june kaplan

  • starting gate

    artist’s statement:
starting gate is a compilation of recent works. some were painted in my mother Penny Kaplan’s studio in NYC, the excitement of the city translates to the
romantic colors and movement of the imagery-fantasy plays a major role
based on intuition and often divine intervention by my spirit guides Zeus
Juno and Apollo, they are a force of good, they help me paint write play music
on my little Yamaha piano on a daily basis-all they ever ask of me is to take
care of myself which i find is a daunting task-some of the work is in private
collections, my own collection, the collections of friends and family-some of the work may be seen at The Whiteroom Gallery, Bridgehampton NY March 16 – April 8 2018.

    artist’s statement:
some of the images repeat themselves as
in the previous gallery starting gate,
yet the thematic horse imagery looms large in my psyche.
each drawing of the horse is different from the next disputing the television theme “a horse is a horse of course of course…”.
there placed in a field and/or countryside
one may be able to sense a mood or better
still an emotion captured in the image at the time of its appearance on canvas, for i have been known to be an emotional person, given to that i have my moments and i believe the paintings reflect this.
thank you to the viewer, i hope you may enjoy “all the pretty little horses…”.
    sincerely,
    jucasso

when we were young we were older than time
    coming from the other side.
when we were born the stage was set-with stars
moon sun oceans rivers lakes streams.
animals in their majesty depend on the kindness
    of nature.
    love ephemeral creative eccentric thoroughly
    kinetic-more committed than ever grateful
for every day to give and to receive a genuine
moment shared with those special someones
who forgive my worst encourage the best,
and laugh with tears in eyes it’s just so funny!
the cats Molly and Cisco speak and understand
a good deal of English-Grandma my mother is
    visiting-I explained to m & c they’ll be having
supper in the computer room tonight. they
understood perfectly and sat down on the
futon looking like chickens do-I presented
them with their 2 plates of their fave tilapia
they seemed interested so I left the room and
joined mom in the kitchen-she had served up
mushrooms & peas, string beans, sesame
noodles and before mom could get a shrimp
with cocktail sauce in her mouth Molly had
jumped up on the table trying to swat mom’s
shrimp out of her hand to the floor. Mom is
not really an animal person so I had to tell
her don’t yell at Molly mom-cat scratches
can be terribly painful! Then in a high pitched
voice mom was saying get down sweetheart-
get down baby-I interceded and gruffly said
get down! actually we didn’t laugh over
    this story-I don’t even know why I’m
    telling it?
