• a little while longer

    stay on the earth plane
    a little while longer
    madrigal phantom
    canyon hills gather beginnings
    endings fill the filament
    lament the will i met

    ointment rub away sorrow
    without you in tomorrow
    unkempt medusa
    rude enthusiasm sought the seeker
some truth a pot of lies
an artists proof an angel cries

see the parting of the ways
    form a more perfect union
    arrays of new ones
    along the palisades-
bathe in a glade down streams
    self consciousness gray the greens

    pity how she bleeds
    without that special someone-
    wife Mother Earth
the stormy affair of her life’s work
    stillness walk in silence
    encourage benevolence

    sayer in troubled southern skies-
    through skirting issues
    tissues and a cane
    rebel cause the second came
    doubtful discriminations
    alter egos enflaming flames

    fire burn bright yellow
    flicker whiskey sours
    past partaken
    mistaken identity
there is a better you in me
    someone I long to see
who has a thing for spring

    purple pleasantries
    swipe the card of plenty
    tell me when you’re ready
to the tune of a medley
    swoon the moon overwhelming
    the tide rushes very

    deep within the sea belly
    beauty of a whale
    may catch her tail
    her little calves running
    through wind tossed waves
    strewn prawn
    sea turtles seaweed jellyfish

    storms to coast the calm
    red flags reserve to warn
    floods flash reservoirs
    seasick senses surface
    race to rocky shores
    where seagulls swear and soar.

  • end of summer

    crickets converge echoing
    an ecological convention
    as if an intervention
    click through grass and weed
    a brassy sounding tempo
    another night to tempt
    contentment
    rose over the compartment
    in a racket
    discreetly crackle
    thighs rub looking for grub
    ingesting flys bugs
    nightly mayhem
    to send a message
    little insects interject their interest
    under the plunder of
    moon filled wonder
    at the end of summer.

  • wind

    whisper rushing water
    birds glide air currents
    the bluff barks rough
    long grasses golden hay flattened
marsh in the harsh of winter
a heart in the middle of the day
    wispy thickets lisping
    blown biting bully muddy earth
    sandy soil loosens stones running
    shocks the rocks bolder
    under sensitive sky
    massive clouds hung low
in the dirt felt the debt to hold
winds fickle forces come and go
with the strength of a mind spring
    rain crushing the pines
    bent torn
    sending storms
    foliage overgrown thrash thrown
    winds groan
    nature’s warning growl
    a departure
    sun fires bright
    till then darkest night
when the moon ascends to prowl.

  • where nothing grieves

    polite moon-lit summer eve
    sense serene leaves rustling
    tender animals of the forest
    forage food mildly

    abundance sing bird in grasses
chip monk squirrel feed their need
on juicy stem an endless weed

in solitude nature proves to ponder
as slow the raccoon go to find a drink
possum play where stalk is thick
lily pond to wade the wild grass
no light when night is black as ink

    but for stars
    before a tempestuous dawn
has your heart forsworn a swooning moon

in gentle circles swim the loon
rare birds fly in pairs to sea
wild duck ignite a drunken cry
all the love the beauty in your eye

    end remorse with nature
    wind through pine and evergreen
shake the laughter out of trees
    fall the leaves
    where nothing grieves.

  • branches bending low

    overwhelmed by spells
quell a realm bring rings as worn
    by trees in the center
    where the heart sleeps

waiting for an answer in fall
    often watching the moon
    I think of you

    celebrations run the year
we try to hear the underlying
undying word of love as clear
    as a fantasy forgives forever

    cool and crisp windy ground
whip and chill the dirt to flirt
    leafy crinkled crunch snap
    branches bending low
half asleep we wait for snow.

  • against the frost

    return yearning dawn
    hold golden sun tightly
pearl white moon alight onyx skies
    opal stars sigh
    wish night brightly on
chill and ice reduce streams to freeze
upon the frozen bed fallen leaves
limbs cold dark unrooted twigs bent
frigid water reserve the pointy stem
    observe the curved shroud
lifting her leaf torn head bowed
    black branch against the frost
    shuttering shattered shy sentiments
slowly soulfully follow a haloed snow blown spin
humbled by winters wound up wind
    wait for Spring.

  • a tapping tale

this love of mine Spring cold
    icy road cover shady green
    flurries stream
buds bitten back bare-wince of winter
doe and deer dine on foliage frozen dinner
    sidewalk street sleet come down
    in sheets where murmurs meet
    stranger souls unique
    whisper in defeat
    pound pavement panic ploy
faces in a mist exist in risk
    window tell a tapping tale
branches lift their curly leaves like braided hair
    wind shaken green queen crown
shift her vision to the ground
hide the squawking hawk brave the raucous raven
stalk the walk to hide the pride of talk
fly to field to find a hastened haven
    on your own since you
    first weighed in
no worry first day of Spring
Sun will rise and set again
a virtuoso on clarinet playing soft regret
his winter ego melt the wealth of debt
    the weather will warm
    let go of stormy mourn
    unleash the senses kept
that struck a glut of tears to pardon
she is our Mother it is her Nature
    to find her way
    back to the garden.

  • with the swallow

masked moon cloud aloud with heavy rain
cling to bough droop currants vine
    the train cumbersome-
trunks of bending birch quench their thirst in puddled dirt decay
sweet root, bearded bark shade shadow glade in shallow dark
    to hear a lark
    giddy in his yelp
    a cry for help
    mellow memory of the swelter
    give me shelter
    oh how he weeps
    to see the dove mourning
    an irreconcilable peace
    the cost of knowing
    tomorrow
    an hour
in the life of an owl
    lucky to find field mice,
    sleep in a barn
    with the swallow.

  • in a manger

    it so happens to be
    the incline of eternity
    a rose garden no stranger
    planted hydrangeas
    fish swim free likened
to ponds of birds the swallow
    hurt in hollow words
    the evergreen shadow
    over earth the magic fan
    that shades her name
    as wind and rain
    upon the plain of evermore
I ask for sunshine cool in weather
    fortuitous waters sweep
    in fountains parks and green
    the milestones of peeps
where after all she takes the call
that answers something deep and all
the revenue that rage fell through
was never intended to upset you
as ever was a fairy dust
to move a mountain or two because
I love you more becomes the day
and kneel beside your heart today
to ask forgiveness for my thoughts
that faults deliverance in wilderness remorse
so wild keen the smiling of
a dawn to deem her rising sun
    the where of been
with no regret to give up yet
I ask you with so much love respect
to think of me with no upset
the magic never left your side
    I dream a dream
    grateful for your kindness
    thankful for your wonder
    lightning and thunder
    found in a manger
    in my mind.

  • the restless way

    mid moment
waves splash spray spill foam covered rock
    where vessels dock
fog seal seashells in the sand
ships tied to the pier upon the shore
    whitecaps wake for
    trolling trawlers sake
break against the rocks to the ocean floor
    warmhearted
    uncharted
    the luck of the draw
    finishing touches for
    turning about in the wind
sailing in the breeze and then
    taking on rough sea again
a night of star filled sky
    redirects the eye
    to find the restless way
    letting go with willingness
in the wonder of the day.
